Eyeliner: Korea vs Japan, CLIO vs Dolly Wink review

One thing I can't live without when it comes to make-up is eyeliner because I really believe that it changes the whole entire look with just few strokes.

A year or so, I won a free Dolly Wink liquid eyeliner and I have loved it ever since. Before that, I was using other brand which was of an affordable price to me but somehow I noticed how it does'nt last long and I have to fix them quite often! Apparently, the oil produced on our eyelid will wash the eyeliner off.

So when I won the Dolly Wink liquid eyeliner, I was very excited because the value is double of what I would usually spend >< (surviving with student allowance leh)

Once I used it, I understood why it cost double the price compare to other liquid eyeliners out there. I loved it sooooo MUCH!

However, as much as I loved it, I could not afford it and once it was going to finish, I spent literally hours in Watson, trying to find another liquid eyeliner and I was not impress with any other. I literally went two rounds to find for a right one and still I could not. In the end, Clio liquid eyeliner caught my eyes.

The price was basically the same or close to Dolly Wink but I have read pretty good review of it and so I figured, I shall buy it and then starve myself with bread for the entire month. lol. Kidding.

Dolly Wink

The founder and the face for Dolly Wink is none other than Tsubasa Masuwaka whom I sincerely believe is like the princess of Gyaru style. You might not know who she is but I am sure you must have seen her face if you have entered a SASA store before. Dolly Wink is generally more famous for their fake eyelashes that has pretty much been a MUST BUY to all gyaru fan. I think it is obvious enough that Dolly Wink is a Japanese brand.

Clio

On the other hand, Clio is a Korean brand but the eyeliner is formulated in Japan. If you have bought any Vivi magazine, you must have come across this brand or basically if you have set foot into a Watson before, then you will see this brand too! Clio first caught my attention because of their spokesperson. It was first the sexy kpop queen, Lee Hyori and follow by 2NE1 Sandara Park. I loveeeee both of them! Hyori is the tough fiesty girl and Dara is just plain hillarious.

When I bought it, it was still Hyori as the face of CLIO.

So which is better???

1) Dolly Wink is slightly not as dark as Clio even though both colour is black. Clio's kill black requires one stroke and it is more than enough to achieve the intensity.

2) Dolly Wink has quite a long lasting effect but it does fade off a little after being out the whole day. On the other hand, Clio is really good when it comes to its lasting period. It stays and last from day to night and I use it whenever I know that I am out for a long period of time and have no intention in doing any touch up.

3) Brush wise, Dolly Wink wins. Clio does not have the best soft brush and it can be quite hard on your delicate eyelid. That would be my most frown upon cons about Clio but when you use it more often, it does get softer.

4) In terms of packaging, I give the point to Dolly Wink. I am a sucker for cute packaging! You can hardly find any liquid eyeliner with such cute pink polka dot design! Clio is just this plain charcoal colour with slight shimmer.

5) As for availability, you can find Clio in Watson and Dolly Wink in SASA. Which means, both are equally that easy to obtain.

Honestly, I love both very much and it is quite hard for me to choose. So, I would say, BUY BOTH! haha. Do tell me if you think one is better than the other.
