Nice Guy Finish Last
Like it or not, I strongly agree with that statement. The thing is I am not talking about those who are actually nice but I am talking about those who seems like a 'good' guy and wants to be nice to everyone.
Sorry I am a lil frustrated with this topic right now because my dream just got crushed into tiny bits of pieces. Anyone watching 步步惊情? If you do then you will get my frustration and if you have not, please go watch it! It is pretty intriguing though not exactly a right choice to make while you have a 'do or die' exam waiting for you around the corner. This is a sequel to the famous 步步惊心 but set in the modern period.
So throughout the whole story and probably up to like the 20th episode or so, me and my housemate have been squealing over this guy called Zachery a.k.a I call him the '8 ah ge' of this series cause well, he is the guy who can't get the girl. Both of us basically turned into little girl looking at him cause he is just so sweet and hello perfect features! One of the famous line said in this show is 我喜欢你喜欢的一切 which was said by him and we died hearing it.
He was basically a perfection until we found out about the relationship with his ex gf! He was already officially with the main girl and this ex gf and the main girl are best friend. So the point is, while he was with her, the ex gf came back and find him. Instead of learning how to draw the line, he continued to be close to her. She will make obvious statement that she still likes him and wants him back! She will even hug him and flirt with him. Instead of pushing her away and ask her to behave herself and everything, he just let her do all these. Continue to go out with her and etc. He 'tried' to tell her that they have broken up but obviously not much of an effort was put in cause how hard can it be to really do it? He isn't a player and neither was the ex gf a bad person because she did'nt know her best friend is with him either and he technically did'nt flirt with her.
I got so frustrated watching how useless and asshole 8 ah ge is and that if I could, I would slap him through my screen! No wonder last night my housemate said "I will return Zachery to you. I don't want him anymore!" After I saw him like that... I don't even want to pass Zachery to anyone. I just want to throw him into a dumpster!
I asked my housemate "WHY?! WHY?!" and she said "It's like that when a guy wants to be the nice guy lah". I admit it is such a fine line to draw between being an arse and a nice guy but there is still a line. Stop blurring it! Why am I ranting about this? BECAUSE THIS IS NOT JUST HAPPENING ON TV SHOW!
I know what guys will usually say "OH! WE ARE STILL FRIENDS! WHY CAN'T WE BE FRIENDS?! WHY YOU DON'T TRUST ME?!"
Fts. Friends means you go around playing with people's emotion and continue to give hope to this girl who obviously still wants you back one is it? You either wants her back or not! If not, please walkaway and draw a clear cut line! And go watch 'You Who Came From The Stars' ! Remember what Hui Keong said to Se Mi when she confessed her feelings to him? He said "Because I am your friend, I am going to walkaway from you. I am going to cut things off from you cause I know how hard it is for you right now to be around me and close with me without me returning your feeling" (Okay.. somewhere along the line cause I don't remember that well and obviously it is understood that they are still friends and they will be back to normal friendship once Se Mi return to feeling okay to be around him).
So yea man! You obviously love and lust for her once upon a time. So much between both of you are frankly speaking, how to trust a guy when he knowingly place himself in a position that can easily be tempted? Speaking of this, a girl (especially ex gf) call you crying and say she needs a friend is utterly crap okay? Every girl will call her gal pal for almost anything! Not you!! provided certain exception such as you have been her best friend for like yearsssss or you are gay.
